In April of this year, Radiation Protection Products, Inc., completed work on a project for the Graham Engineering Corporation. Radiation Protection Products furnished and installed a custom, oversized, lead lined x-ray door for Graham Engineering’s newly built non-destructive testing imaging hangar in Batavia, New York. Radiation Protection Products manufactures, sells, and installs a full line of radiation, nuclear, and x-ray shielding products. These products include lead lined drywall and plywood, lead bricks, lead doors and door frames, leaded glass, and lead lined window frames, as well as sheet lead and other industrial lead construction components. The company also designs and installs custom shielding solutions like the door provided for Graham Engineering’s facility. Headquartered in Wayzata, Minnesota, Radiation Protection Products has been a leader in lead shielding and lead products since 1947.
For Graham Engineering Corporation’s project, Radiation Protection Products fabricated and installed a bi-parting, sliding x-ray door. The two leaves of the door each weigh roughly 5,000 pounds, and measure 9.25’ wide by 20’ high. Radiation Protection Products also installed a heated top rail, a unique feature designed to ensure that the door will open and close properly in upstate New York’s often snowy winter weather. Graham Engineering Corporation is the global standard in wheel and industrial extrusion blow molding solutions, known worldwide for the quality, reliability, and productivity of their technology. General contractor on the construction of Graham Engineering’s imaging hangar was Manning Squires Hennig Co., Inc., of Batavia, New York.
