Safety tags are used to alert workers that a piece of equipment or machinery is unavailable for use, whether it be due to failure, pending maintenance or repairs, or other concerns. Typically, safety tags are brightly colored for maximum visibility (usually yellow or orange). They are commonly marked with a generic warning, such as "Caution," "Danger," or "Warning," in large, bold letters, accompanied by an area of blank space in which users can add further, more specific details. Most safety tags are made to be reused multiple times. They are typically manufactured from materials that resist common industrial hazards, such as abrasion, chemicals, steam, and water/salt water.
